Vis Island is located in the central Dalmatian archipelago, 90.3 km2 (17 km long, wide and 8 km). To the western coast of the island is spacious Komiza bay with sandy bottoms. The southern coast has a number of smaller bays (Travna vela, Travna small, Stiniva, Ruda, Teleška vela, etc.). The settlement and port Vis lies on the northern coast of the island, where there are cliffs, the most notable being the Cebu (100 m). Vis is inhabited since the Neolithic era - ruins. The main settlement on the island, Vis and Komiza, are mutually connected by road and ferry lines. In addition to viticulture great economic significance has fishing (factory for fish conservation in Komiza).
