Town Sesvete

Sesvete - CroMapsSesvete is one of the districts of Zagreb, Croatia. It is located in the eastern part of the city Zagreb. Sesvete was first mentioned in written sources as being under the dominion of the Diocese of Zagreb.

The town is well known for its 18th century parish church with its peculiar twin steeples, unusual in Croatian churches of the Baroque period. The modern town of Sesvete began to form only at the end of the 18th century.

The surroundings of Sesvete have a number of attractions: among the most interesting are the common maple tree in Cerje, protected as a natural monu-ment, and the locality of Kozelin on Medvednica Mountain (not far from the village of Belovar), one of the oldest habitations in Greater Zagreb, with archaeological finds from the 2nd millennium BC.
