Town Vrbovec

Vrbovec a town in the Lonja-Ilova rivers basin, 38 km south-east of Zagreb. First mentioned in a 13th-century donation charter, the town developed from a medieval estate, passing to many families in the process, one of whom being the Zrinskis. Only a cylindrical tower remains of their period of rule.

Another important monument is the baroque-style parish church of  St Vitus (17/18th century). Tourism in Vrbovec started to intensively develop the appearance of the event, "What they ate our old," twenty years ago. "What they ate our old" is a unique tourist-kulinarska event and culinary art festival of the people of this region, which attracts more and more visitors, and is held every year at the end of August.

Vrbovec is north-east from Zagreb, far:
• 32 km by highway A4 (Zagreb - Sv.Helena), then B28 expressway (Sv. Helena - Vrbovec) or,
• 40 km by the old state-road Zagreb - Dugo Selo - Bjelovar, and by train through direction Zagreb - Vrbovec - Koprivnica - Hungary.
